BAYERN CONSIDERING ALABA SALE

According to reports in Germany, Bayern Munich are considering selling Manchester City target David Alaba. Bayern will consider selling the fullback this summer according to various reports in the Bundesliga. The Austrian is seeking fresh challenges as he ages in his professional career. He has one year left on the deal with the German Champions and has refused to agree to an extension.

The Telegraph reported that Bayern are considering selling the defender rather than lose him for free next season. The long serving defender is considered one of the best in Europe and his versatility has seen him deployed in different positions. He has played in full back, center back, midfield and sometimes as winger for for the club in recent years. Former manager Pep Gurdiola described Alaba and Phillipe Lahm among the most versatile players he has ever coached.

Sources close to Alaba have revealed that the player will not renew with the club. The source disclosed that the player has not been played in his preferred position. Alaba has stated in the past that he will like to play further up the pitch. The emergence of Alphonso Davies has also made it difficult for the club to grant the player’s wish.

Alaba, 27, has been an important piece for Bayern Munich in their successful pursuit of the German League filling in the centre-back position in recent months. Premier League sides City and Chelsea want the experienced and versatile player, with City coach Pep Guardiola allegedly desperate to add him to his ranks at the Etihad. Former Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovich, has also urged his former side to make the move for the player should he become available. Alaba has been with Bayern since 2008, making over 350 appearances over that time
