IVANOVIC IN RUMORED MOVE TO BARCELONA

Branislav Ivnovic, Chelsea’s defender has been rumored to be in a shock move to the Spanish side, Barcelona.

This came on the heels of the failure of the Catalans coach, Luis Enrique, to successfully replace Dani Alves.

According to reports from several news agencies, once the upcoming transfer window opens, the Serbian defender will likely make the shock move to Barcelona. For eight years, Ivanovic had enjoyed a wonderful spell at Chelsea, after he moved to the London club from Lokomotiv Moscow.

However, since Antonio Conte took over as Chelsea’s coach, Ivanovic has found playing time with the club hard to come by. Also, with Chelsea not quite keen on extending the contract of the defender, which expires at the end of the current season, it is only expected that he would leave in the coming transfer window.

The transfer window opening soon, could see the Chelsea coach add another defender to his squad list, as he looks to strengthen his already strong defence. This further goes a long way to increase the precarious situation of Ivanovic. However, Barcelona seem keen on an Ivanovic move to Camp Nou at a cut-price deal.

Barcelona is expected to have about £21 million for spending in the summer of 2017. Their signings last summer, have not been able to leave a lasting impression on the side and this has left a lot of Barcelona fans infuriated

The 32-year old Ivanovic is not getting any younger which doesn’t mean he could not leave his mark on the side. Considering his credentials, he could prove to be a valuable piece for the club.

Barcelona, who sits six points behind table leader, Real Madrid, have an uphill task of trying to overturn the deficit and lead the table. Ivanovic could be the missing link to a fragile Catalan defence.
